April 19-25 week is National Playground Safety Week, National Volunteer Week, Turnoff Week, and Earth Day! Wow!
National Playground Safety Week is a time to focus on children's outdoor play environments, a time to pledge to use good judgment when playing, and a time for gratitude for all the adults who work tirelessly on maintaining our playgrounds. Consider celebrating by starting a playspace watch group.
National Volunteer Week presents an opportunity for individuals, families, nonprofit organizations and government entities alike to celebrate the ordinary people who accomplish extraordinary things through service. Be sure to recognize those in your life who have made a difference through the gift of their time - and make some time to volunteer your time as well.
Turnoff Week is all about getting away from the many screens in our lives (TV, computer, etc.) and getting outside to PLAY! Find a place to play near you, and while you're there, take some photos to add to the KaBOOM! Playspace Finder as part of our 100,000 Playspaces in 100 Days campaign. (Those little LCD screens on digital cameras don't count, right?)
Finally, Earth Day is all about protecting our most valuable playground - the Earth! Have you checked out our Playing Green group and our Sustainability Best Practices group for ideas yet? Be sure to add your own thoughts as well!
How are you going to celebrate such an amazing week? Tell us in the comments!
