Our idea is to turn the sidewalks of Harlem into musical playgrounds by turning existing structures into musical instruments (e.g., tree guards to xylophones) or adding instruments to existing signage or storefronts. An instrument can be electronically programmed to make the various sounds of Jazz (piano, trumpet, saxophone, drum,, etc.)| or each instrument can make one unique sound. Kids play when they pass by, contributing to the music of the street and promoting the musical heritage of Harlem. The sounds can be recorded and shared with members of the community via a website. The recordings can be remixed and sold to generate funds that can be used to fund music scholarships in the community.
