Clinton County Health Department
CCHD and Champlain Centre Mall will partner to create a unique opportunity to increase movement in residents of all ages. The project will involve the purchase, installation and promotion of an interactive floor technology system. The system projects over 70 sensor driven images on an identified open space, adjacent to the food court and the center's largest anchor store to maximize use.
The body tracking and gesture recognition system monitor and respond to the positions of the body, allowing for real-time motion control and interaction with display graphics. The technology is bright, vibrant and virtually impossible to walk past without exploring. This equipment blends mental and physical activity, encouraging children to navigate the ever changing images and games. The system is hygienic, safe, entertaining and not susceptible to the normal wear and tear of equipment.
Poor weather, lack of opportunities and inability to pay are common challenges. An indoor project can be used regardless of season or outdoor temperature. On average, the mall receives 27,500 visitors a day. It is the most frequented location in the region.
The location is indoors, centrally located and accessible through our rural transit system and provides play for no cost to all families. There are no other indoor areas with this type of access and familiarity to residents. These characteristics extend estimated reach for this project to almost all county residents and beyond. The interactive floor combines the growing love of technology with the imperative need to get everyone moving more and sitting less.
