KABOOM! and The CarMax Foundation are thrilled to be named the 2020 Silver Halo Award winners in the Group Volunteerism Category, presented by Engage for Good.
The CarMax Foundation and KABOOM! have a long-standing partnership to address the most pressing needs of kids and communities by transforming the future of play and bringing innovative play opportunities to kids across the country. Newly created playspaces give kids in CarMax communities the opportunity to thrive and support the KABOOM! mission to end playspace inequity. Since 2011, over 10,000 CarMax associates and 7,700 local community members have come together to provide nearly 150 new playspaces that will reach more than over 350,000 kids. Building on their strong history, the partners launched a Future Innovators Initiative in 2019 to address the need for early development of 21st century skills, such as critical thinking, collaboration, communication and creativity, through child directed creative play. Overall, the program will engage hundreds of CarMax associates and reach over 50,000 kids across the country.
“If the COVID-19 pandemic has taught us anything, it’s the importance of companies leading with purpose. The companies that have been able to quickly pivot and make a meaningful impact are the ones that already had a strong corporate social impact foundation they could activate and further engage during this time of crisis,” said Engage for Good President David Hessekiel.
The Halo Awards are North America’s highest honor for corporate social initiatives and cause marketing and presented by Engage for Good. This marks the 18th year that Engage for Good honored businesses and nonprofits with Halo Awards for doing well by doing good.
A total of 28 category awards were given out to programs judged the best social impact campaigns of 2019 at the first-ever Engage for Good Virtual Conference that took place online on May 28th.
“This year’s recipients provide tangible examples of effective and innovative purpose-driven efforts and demonstrate the many ways companies and causes can collaborate to create meaningful business and social returns,” said Hessekiel.
