About the project
We Love BuHi, Inc. works to connect the multicultural community in Atlanta’s Buford Highway corridor. One of the primary goals of this project was to celebrate the many immigrant communities in the area and create a sense of ownership for them.
Giant illuminated inflatables stationed in the courtyard of a local mall for one month were overlaid with designs inspired by textiles, created by four women who are immigrants from Peru, Vietnam, Indonesia and Korea. An opening celebration and several community events were organized to celebrate and educate the community about the temporary installation.
Community impact
The project was such a hit, the community of Doraville, GA is brainstorming ideas for using the inflatables during warmer weather, so the public can continue to enjoy them.
