Let's Play Everywhere Los Angeles will award grants to creative solutions that make play a way of life in everyday and unexpected places-- on sidewalks, in vacant lots, at bus stops, in open streets, and beyond-- in the places where families struggle to make ends meet.
The well-being of communities starts with the well-being of kids, and play is critical to their healthy development. Let's Play, an initiative by Dr Pepper Snapple, KaBOOM!, and the City of Los Angeles' Mayor's Office are partnering to provide kids and families with the tools, places, and inspiration to make active play a daily priority.
What is Play Everywhere?
Play does not always have to happen on a playground. While playgrounds provide joyful oases for play, sometimes play must be available in other places. In an effort to include play opportunities where kids already spend time, "play everywhere" encourages people to think about spaces that could become PLAYces: whether it's a laundromat, grocery store, sidewalk, bus stop, or somewhere else, these often-boring situations can turn into stimulating, creative outlets for play.
Play Everywhere in California
Communities across California have already begun planning and implementing play everywhere concepts. Here are a few examples.
