Today in Play: Fitter students get better test scores

Fitter students get better test scores
A recent study (pdf) by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) and the New York City Department of Education (DOE) revealed that academic test scores increased with higher NYC FITNESSGRAM scores across all racial and ethnic groups. This is yet more evidence that active kids do better in school!

Playground safety in the news
Both the USA Today and Las Vegas Sun featured articles on playground safety this week. The USA Today piece stresses the importance of playground maintenance and proper safety surfacing kept at sufficient levels. The Las Vegas Sun, meanwhile, profiles a community activist working to get shade structures for all the city's playgrounds.

Recent and upcoming KaBOOM! playground builds
The playground built with Major League Soccer All-Stars Tuesday was featured in MLSNET and Our Sports Central.

The Indianapolis Colts held a Design Day and posted a great report on their website.

And several builds have been covered by local TV news - check out the videos on the websites below!
