The city of Pascagoula's 12th Street Recreational Complex has long been noted for its tradition of training girls in the sport of softball.
On most spring and summer days, you will find parents with their daughters playing catch and practicing their swinging technique. But on the chilly, damp morning of Dec. 13, over 150 volunteers joined together to change the face of the local playground located within the complex used largely by the neighborhood children.
Thanks to KaBOOM!, and the generous funding partnership created through Chrysler and the Mississippi Hurricane Recovery Fund, what has long been a sand box with only a simple slide and a couple of swings is now an elaborate, state of the art playspace that will make us not so young in age yet still young at heart want to jump in and try our hand at the new equipment. From a whirligig to a seesaw to spiral slides and everything in between, you and your child will find something that will make your next trip to the playground an adventure.
