Spotlight on video contest finalist Paseo 625

Paseo 625 playground project in Oklahoma cityPeople are voting like crazy in our Promote Your Project Video Contest, which has around 40,000 total votes so far! Paseo 625, in Oklahoma City, is one of our 10 very deserving finalists. Here’s what Paseo project leaders have to say about why their project deserves your vote:

About the neighborhood:
Paseo 625 will be located in one of the most heavily crime-ridden, poverty-stricken neighborhoods in Oklahoma City. The Paseo Arts District is bursting at the seams with children who currently have no place to play beyond alleys and streets.

Who’s behind the playground project:
The Paseo Neighborhood Association hopes to bring forth a revived community through a playground, a park, and eventually a community center. We believe that this small investment in our community is also a small investment in each of the community’s children.

The vision:
Our final playground design will hopefully include a playground system with a swing set, slide, a climbing wall, ladders, and monkey bars. Our dream also includes handicap accessible playground equipment.

Major challenges:
Paseo 625 is in the early stages of development. We have raised $10,000 out of a total fundraising goal of $200,000. Right now we are looking for a lot of help in writing grants and gaining backing in the neighborhood.

Help Paseo 625 get $5,000 toward playground equipment! Watch their video entry and cast your vote.

EXTRA! Paseo 625 also made a video pitch to help them get out the vote:
