The KaBOOM! vision is a great place to play for every child – and we think that America’s Public Lands are just that! Parks, trails, and other natural areas are great places for kids and families to spend time together, play, and discover the wonders of the nature.
KaBOOM! is excited to partner with National Public Lands Day (NPLD) (NPLD) this year on an initiative to feature NPLD events as part of our Play Day campaign. By doing service projects on Sept. 26, people across the country are not only taking care of public lands and giving back to their communities, but restoring places for us all to play and connect with nature.
Now in its 16th year, NPLD is the nation’s largest hands-on volunteer effort to improve and enhance the public lands Americans enjoy. Last year, 120,000 volunteers participated in this nationwide event, as well as over 700 state and local agencies and eight federal agencies. NPLD is a program of the National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF), a non-profit organization and leader in the environmental health movement. NEEF’s Children & Nature Initiative is on the forefront of working with parents, caregivers, and pediatric health care providers to get kids outside to experience the overall health and developmental benefits of time spent in nature.
From playgrounds to parks and trails, play is a vital part of the national landscape. KaBOOM! is proud to partner with National Public Lands Day to take care of our lands and to promote the benefits of play and time in nature.
