The three-month old SOAR Charter Academy in San Bernardino got a brand-new playground with ideas from the kids themselves, thanks to California Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge Dealers and KaBOOM!
Exuberant smiles and faces thanked volunteers in song for their efforts in building the new playground -- which, planned with input from the kids themselves, included three slides, a play web and a mural designed by SOAR students and their parents.
The daylong effort began Wednesday at 8 a.m. as more than 250 volunteers were dispersed to help put the new playground together, which replaced 50-year-old existing play equipment built by a previous school, which had rented the building prior to SOAR's opening earlier this year. [More]
