The post-Katrina center that I helped start is named after the Governor Haley Barbour’s wife, Marsha Barbour, who worked hard delivering supplies to all kinds of neighborhoods after the storm. The Marsha Barbour Center had over three hundred people working to build a Kaboom playground. It was the most integrated group you could possibly imagine– black, white, young, old, men, women, Democrats and Republicans.
