The Home Depot Foundation becomes official KaBOOM! Sustainability Partner

KaBOOM! is proud to announce that in 2009, The Home Depot Foundation will become the official Sustainability Partner of KaBOOM!. Together we are deepening our efforts to minimize the environmental impact of our projects.

We're not only continuing to recycle and reuse materials at each site, but we’re also incorporating sustainable enhancement projects like compost bins, tree planting and rainwater collection. In addition, we'll educate children and community partners nationwide about this important issue by integrating environmentally-friendly service learning projects with each project.

The Home Depot Foundation and KaBOOM! will also work with other organizations that lead large-scale community projects to develop a set of universal standards for indoor or outdoor environmentally sustainable volunteer projects. The resulting guidelines, available online later this year, will help managers of volunteer-driven, building-related community development projects follow environmentally sustainable practices.
