Get moving for Back to Football Friday

Most kids could use some more health and wellness in their lives. That’s why we were excited to find out about NFL PLAY 60’s Health and Wellness grants, which will be awarded to 34 schools this fall.

To get in the running, schools (grades K-8) need to hold an event that demonstrates their support for their favorite NFL team on Back to Football Friday (Sept. 10). Events will be judged based on originality, level of NFL passion, and relevance to the theme of health and wellness.

Not only will 34 winning schools each receive a $10,000 grant, but they will also get a visit from an NFL player.

How can schools use grant money to promote health and wellness? Well, they can put it toward building or improving a playground, for one. If a school already has a great playspace, it can follow KaBOOM! Community Partner Pecan Park Elementary’s lead and expand its playground into a comprehensive Wellness Area, which at Pecan Park includes a walking track and cardiovascular stations.

To get in on the fun, sign up to receive a reminder about when the Back to Football Friday Contest begins. Registration officially opens on July 1.
