"Probably during the day, I send about, like, 300, 400, 500 text messages." So claims one of the teenagers featured in the documentary, Play Again, which recently won "Best in Fest" at the Colorado Environmental Film Festival. The film follows six screen-happy teenagers who unplug to embark on their first wilderness adventure.
The film asks, "What are the consequences of a childhood removed from nature?" In an era in which children spend nearly 7.5 hours a day in front of a screen and about 90 percent of their time indoors, Play Again drives home the importance of outdoor play for the physical, mental, and emotional health of our younger generations.
It's time for an intervention. The stakes couldn't be higher. Watch the trailer, then check out playagainfilm.com to find a screening near you.
