TAMPA — Two-year-old Chase Taylor ran across the new playground at Al Lopez Park last week and heard a musical ding. Then another. He looked down.
There, embedded in the rubber turf, were large piano keys. Each time he stepped on a key, a sound emanated from a speaker behind him. He smiled and continued stomping his feet.
The talking turf is one of the most popular features at the new children's play area at the Himes Avenue park. The $325,000 playground, unveiled last month, features a large tot area and one for older children.
