The DJ blared music through speakers under a tent while about 280 volunteers put finishing touches on Central Park Elementary School's new playground.

The volunteers — from Landers Dodge Chrysler Jeep, The Chrysler Foundation, Chrysler Financial, Central Park Elementary, organizers from KaBOOM!, Barksdale Air Force Base, members of the Caddo Magnet High School Key Club and community members — assembled the playground within eight hours Wednesday.

The playground's design, which features playground equipment, an outdoor classroom that can double as an amphitheater, pavilion, shade structures and park benches among other structures, is based on drawings provided by students who attended a Design Day event in August. [More]
