It's been such an amazing year! As many of us gather to celebrate the holidays with our families and friends today, I find myself remembering all the people who gathered to celebrate play earlier this year!
From Sept. 19-27, more than 1,200 communities across the country and around the world (on every continent, in fact: including Antarctica!) hosted Play Days. Kids, parents, teachers and community leaders participated in good old-fashioned outdoor games and activities, such as relay races, crafts, mural painting, flower planting, petition signing, fundraising and much more - all in the name of our passionate belief that play has purpose.
Thanks to the generous support from our sponsors, KOOL-AID and NFL PLAY 60, Play Day organizers who registered their events on kaboom.org were provided with an array of helpful online and offline tools to make their events successful, and Play Day hosts were able to compete for playspace improvement grants online. More than 197,000 votes were cast for the grant competition!
You can vote for the power of play, too, by giving a gift to KaBOOM!. Together, we can inspire more communities to celebrate play in 2010 and beyond. Donate now!
