FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

YoYo.com and KaBOOM! are bringing play back into kids’ lives in 2012 while offering a special valentine during the month of February

Premiere toy website YoYo.com and national non-profit KaBOOM! are partnering to bring play to children everywhere.

With YoYo.com’s Refer-a-Friend program, new customers referred by existing YoYo.com customers will receive a code for 20% off their first order, plus YoYo will make a donation to “Save Play” with KaBOOM!. And as a special Valentine this February, YoYo.com will double their efforts with KaBOOM! by increasing the referral donation from $5 to $10. Plus, for every new Facebook “Like” received by YoYo.com, an additional dollar will go to KaBOOM!

“Like KaBOOM!, we believe that kids should have more opportunities for good, old-fashioned fun,” says Galyn Bernard, Site Leader of YoYo.com. “This is the perfect partnership. While KaBOOM! creates more play spaces, our simplified toy-shopping experience creates more play time – for everyone.”

“Yoyo.com brings joy to children every day through the great toys they offer on their website. We are grateful to them for joining our efforts to also make sure that every child in America has a great place to play,” says Darell Hammond, Founder and CEO of KaBOOM!.

KaBOOM! is the 2012 nonprofit beneficiary of the Refer-a-Friend program, and Yoyo.com customers can share the savings and support KaBOOM! throughout the year by referring new customers to the site. To start referring, register for free at YoYo.com, and visit their facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/yoyo.com.

Today’s kids have less time and fewer opportunities to play than any previous generation, a fact that is having disastrous consequences on their health and well-being. Play has been proven to help children develop physically, socially, emotionally and cognitively, yet only 1-in-5 children live within walking distance to a park or playground. The “Save Play” campaign addresses this challenge head on by funding initiatives that:

  • Help communities build playgrounds
  • Improve existing playgrounds through construction and spruce grants
  • Provide best practices and funding for school districts to open school after hours so they can be enjoyed by the community evenings and weekends

About KABOOM!
KABOOM! is the national nonprofit committed to ending playspace inequity – the reality that quality places to play are not available to every child, especially in communities of color. Since 1996, KABOOM! has partnered with kids and communities to create or transform 17,000+ playspaces and ensure that nearly 12 million kids have equitable access to the crucial benefits and opportunities that playspaces offer. In 2022, KABOOM! launched the 25 in 5 Initiative to End Playspace Inequity, the $250 million plan to accelerate its mission in 25 high-priority locations over five years.
