FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

YoYo.com and KaBOOM! are bringing play back into kids’ lives in 2012 while offering a special valentine during the month of February

Premiere toy website YoYo.com and national non-profit KaBOOM! are partnering to bring play to children everywhere.

With YoYo.com’s Refer-a-Friend program, new customers referred by existing YoYo.com customers will receive a code for 20% off their first order, plus YoYo will make a donation to “Save Play” with KaBOOM!. And as a special Valentine this February, YoYo.com will double their efforts with KaBOOM! by increasing the referral donation from $5 to $10. Plus, for every new Facebook “Like” received by YoYo.com, an additional dollar will go to KaBOOM!

“Like KaBOOM!, we believe that kids should have more opportunities for good, old-fashioned fun,” says Galyn Bernard, Site Leader of YoYo.com. “This is the perfect partnership. While KaBOOM! creates more play spaces, our simplified toy-shopping experience creates more play time – for everyone.”

“Yoyo.com brings joy to children every day through the great toys they offer on their website. We are grateful to them for joining our efforts to also make sure that every child in America has a great place to play,” says Darell Hammond, Founder and CEO of KaBOOM!.

KaBOOM! is the 2012 nonprofit beneficiary of the Refer-a-Friend program, and Yoyo.com customers can share the savings and support KaBOOM! throughout the year by referring new customers to the site. To start referring, register for free at YoYo.com, and visit their facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/yoyo.com.

Today’s kids have less time and fewer opportunities to play than any previous generation, a fact that is having disastrous consequences on their health and well-being. Play has been proven to help children develop physically, socially, emotionally and cognitively, yet only 1-in-5 children live within walking distance to a park or playground. The “Save Play” campaign addresses this challenge head on by funding initiatives that:

  • Help communities build playgrounds
  • Improve existing playgrounds through construction and spruce grants
  • Provide best practices and funding for school districts to open school after hours so they can be enjoyed by the community evenings and weekends

About KABOOM!
KABOOM! is the national non-profit that works to achieve playspace equity. Kids who don’t have access to play miss out on childhood and are denied critical opportunities to build physical, social and emotional health. And all too often, it more deeply affects communities of color. So we amplify the power of communities to build inspiring playspaces that spark unlimited opportunities for every kid, everywhere. KABOOM! has teamed up with partners to build or improve 17,000+ playspaces, engage more than 1.5 million community members and bring joy to more than 11 million kids. To learn about our goal to end playspace inequity for good, visit kaboom.org and join the conversation at twitter.com/kaboom, facebook.com/kaboom, and instagram.com/kaboom.
