KaBOOM! Welcomes Nabeeha Kazi Hutchins as New Vice President of Programs

Washington, D.C. (December 2, 2019) ·

Today, KaBOOM!, the national nonprofit that works with communities to ensure every kid, everywhere has access to incredible playspaces, announced that Nabeeha Kazi Hutchins has joined the senior leadership team as Vice President of Programs. In this role, Nabeeha will grow the organization’s work in building kid-inspired, community-driven, state-of-the-art places to play, in collaboration with communities that have been cut off from opportunity.

“Play is a fundamental human right. And when kids don’t have a place to play, something’s fundamentally wrong,” said James Siegal, CEO of KaBOOM!. “All too often, kids in communities that have experienced disinvestment do not have places to play where they live, learn and grow, which disproportionately impacts kids of color. It is our mission to end this inequity. With Nabeeha leading our work with communities, we will be able to make swifter progress in closing this playspace equity gap for good.”

Nabeeha brings over 20 years of experience in early childhood development, human rights and public health, and has dedicated her career to driving equitable health, social and development outcomes for children around the world. Prior to joining KaBOOM!, Nabeeha served as Executive Director of No Wasted Lives, a global coalition dedicated to combating child malnutrition. She also founded Humanitas Global, an international development organization that focuses on scaling up social, economic and public health progress worldwide.

Nabeeha has served in senior roles with global communications firm, FleishmanHillard, and The Clinton Foundation’s Global HIV/AIDS Initiative, and implemented advocacy and community development programs for UNICEF, the EastWest Institute and the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT).

“When kids thrive, communities prosper. Ensuring kids realize their full potential is an urgent global priority that no one can deny,” said Nabeeha Kazi Hutchins. “I am thrilled to join a smart, passionate and dedicated team that is focused on building equitable opportunities for kids, and be part of a powerful movement where every kid has inspiring and accessible places to play, and can achieve and soar.”

Nabeeha was born in Pakistan, and raised in the United States and Mexico. She speaks English, Hindi, Spanish and Urdu fluently, and has worked on community programs across the United States and in more than 20 countries. She holds Bachelor’s degrees in Political Science, Journalism and Mass Communications from Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas, and Master’s degrees in International Affairs and Public Health from Columbia University in New York.
