NHL Los Angeles Kings All-Star and captain Dustin Brown and his wife Nicole became involved with KaBOOM! after the Kings and the Kings Care Foundation committed to building a playground with KaBOOM! in March of 2009. Dustin and Nicole loved the KaBOOM! mission so much, that they immediately wanted to become deeply involved in bringing play back into the lives of children. And, thus, the Dustin Brown "Hit Tracker" was born. During the 2008-09 season, Dustin and Nicole committed to donating $50 to KaBOOM! for every body check Dustin recorded during the season. Dustin finished with 285 hits, which raised $14,250 for KaBOOM!. Fans can check out the "Hit Tracker" at www.lakings.com/kaboom. Dustin also supported KaBOOM! Play Days, and the 2009 KaBOOM! Play Day Kit featured a limited edition Dustin Brown trading card.
The Kings' Most Inspirational Player and Most Popular Player in 2007-08, Dustin was named the youngest captain in franchise history in 2008-09 and earned team MVP honors. Dustin is also active in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walks and serves as a spokesman for Children's Cancer Research Fund, an organization dedicated to providing support for clinical research in pediatric cancer, while improving the medical environment for all children. In 2009, Dustin was a finalist for the NHL Foundation Player Award, which honors players who enrich the lives of people in their communities.

NBA Cleveland Cavs All-Star Antawn Jamison attended his first KaBOOM! build in conjunction with the 2008 NBA All-Star game and was immediately hooked! Soon after, Antawn committed to supporting the KaBOOM! Playmaker Network by building a playground near his hometown of Shreveport in Bossier City, La., in September 2008 as well as to help KaBOOM! with promotional efforts for its WE Play! training in Charlotte in May 2008 – even though he was right in the middle of the playoffs! Jamison also committed to participate in a KaBOOM! playground build with KOOL-AID in southeastern Washington, D.C. less than three weeks after his build in Louisiana! He continued to support KaBOOM! via a playground build in July 2009 in Charlotte and participates in the KaBOOM! Play Days effort as the 2009 KaBOOM! Play Day Kit featured a limited edition Antawn Jamison trading card.
No stranger to lending a helping hand, Jamison was awarded the NBA's Community Assist Award in 2003 for his incredible community service efforts in North Carolina and was a finalist for the NBA’s Sportsmanship Award in 2009. A former winner of the Magic Johnson Award, presented annually by the Professional Basketball Writers Association to an NBA player who combines excellence on the court with outstanding cooperation with the media, Antawn is also a two-time honoree by The Sporting News as one of the "Good Guys" in sports and a fixture at Cleveland Cavs community events.
