Food, water and helping hands needed
By DEANNA ROSE Shelby Township (Mich.) Source June 8, 2008
A new Playscape is going to be erected at Delia Park in Sterling Heights and the city needs approximately 200 volunteers to help build it, along with donations of food and beverages for those helping out. “Build Day” will take place from approximately 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 19 at Delia Park, located on 18 Mile Road, west of Ryan Road.
The project is a cooperative effort among the city, the Chrysler Foundation, Chrysler Jeep Superstores, Motor City Dodge Dealers, the Sterling Heights Community Foundation and KaBOOM, a national nonprofit organization that promotes recreation opportunities throughout the United States.
“We’re certainly pleased to participate in this project,” Community Foundation Vice President Dr. Martin Brown said.
Brian Glowiak, vice president of the Chrysler Foundation, said it’s not just about the financial investment, but about the investment in the volunteers and the goodwill brought forth through this effort.
“We’re very excited to invest in the community,” Glowiak said. “It’s always good to give back.” [More]
