New York Street Games and KaBOOM! Partner to Bring Play Back
New York Street Games DVD and Rule Book To Be Released May 25, 2010 with a percentage of each sale going to support KaBOOM!
NEW YORK, NY – Craig Lifschutz and Matt Levy, the Producers of New York Street Games have announced a partnership with KaBOOM!, furthering both groups’ commitment to play. KaBOOM! is the national non-profit dedicated to saving play. A portion of the proceeds from each DVD/Rule Book purchase will go directly to KaBOOM!. In addition, New York Street Games and KaBOOM! will work together on several events throughout the year. New York Street Games will be available for $19.95 beginning May 25, 2010 at www.newyorkstreetgames.com or Amazon.com.
Craig Lifschutz of New York Street Games said, “We are thrilled to be partnering with KaBOOM! in our effort to shine a spotlight on the benefits of children’s play and the sense of fun and community involvement that comes from engaging in the kind of activities showcased in New York Street Games.”
"Play is disappearing from our children’s lives on a massive scale, and as a nation, we’re starting to see the consequences when it comes to the health and happiness of our communities. This film is a call to action. Kids need the same opportunities to play that we had growing up. So take your kids to your local park or playground to play some of the games in the film, or if you don’t have a playground nearby, get a street blocked off, even for a day, and experience the joy and laughter that comes with having a place for kids to play," said Darell Hammond, the CEO and Co-founder of KaBOOM!.
Through interviews with dozens of prominent New Yorkers including Ray Romano, Regis Philbin, Hector Elizondo, Joe Pantoliano, Curtis Sliwa and experts including former Surgeon General C. Everett Koop, New York Street Games takes us back to a simpler time when the rules of the games, stickball, hopscotch, Chinese handball, were….well, the rules of the game. Their stories offer an intriguing and often humorous portrait of how things used to be, how they have changed, and how to recapture some of the advantages of a simpler time. Packaged with a rule book, New York Street Games offers families an inexpensive way to come together and play, parents teaching children the games they grew up with.
