A Decade of Play With The Home Depot
From Nova Scotia to Alaska and almost everywhere in between, our 10-year partnership with The Home Depot has brought invaluable in-kind, financial, and most importantly, volunteer power to the cause of play and community-building across North America. Through initiatives like 1,000 Playgrounds in 1,000 Days, Operation Playground and Racing to Play, The Home Depot is helping KaBOOM! reach thousands of children in neighborhoods where play is needed most!

1,000 Playspaces in 1,000 Days
This unprecedented initiative was launched by KaBOOM! and The Home Depot in 2005 to create and refurbish 1,000 playspaces in 1,000 days throughout North America. Through this commitment, The Home Depot has enabled KaBOOM! to reach communities where play is needed most by offering highly effective trainings, challenge grants, and technical assistance to spark and support community-led playground, field, and ice rink projects.

Operation Playground: Bringing Play Back to the Gulf Coast
A two-year KaBOOM! initiative to build 100 playgrounds in Gulf Coast communities affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. By the end of 2006, KaBOOM! will have mobilized more than 6,000 volunteers to build 30 playgrounds in the Gulf Coast through Operation Playground. Team Depot has brought tremendous support to this effort, including the first permanent structure to be rebuilt in Pass Christian, Miss.! This program has restored for thousands of children a sense of childhood taken away in the aftermath of the hurricanes. It has also provided hope and momentum to local rebuilding efforts throughout the Gulf Coast.

Racing to Play
This partnership between The Home Depot, Joe Gibbs Racing, and KaBOOM! was designed to make a lasting, positive impression in the lives of at-risk children who live in race communities throughout America. Racing to Play has quickly become a well-known charitable activity within the NASCAR community. By the end of 2006, this partnership will have built 20 special racing-themed playgrounds and brought thousands of smiles to young racing fans from Nashua, N.H., to Las Vegas, Nev.
