What is WE Play!?

The KaBOOM! Workshops Entirely on Play (WE Play!) are one-day regional trainings that provide everything you need to know on planning playspace projects. These fun-filled (can you say "kazoo"?), action-packed trainings use the KaBOOM! Community Build Road Map as a framework for building great places to play. A few of the topics we cover are playground safety, surfacing, design, fundraising, and Build Day preparation. Participants represent a variety of organizations, including YMCAs, Boys & Girls Clubs, parks and recreation departments, schools, churches, and neighborhood associations. What’s more exciting? All participants have the opportunity to volunteer at a local playground build the next day. In other words, you’ll come ready to learn and leave ready to play (and plan)!

What is a webinar?

Short for web-based seminar, a webinar is an online presentation or seminar with interactive elements — the ability to give, receive and discuss information. In a webinar, each participant sits at his or her own computer and is connected to other participants on the Internet. The presenter speaks over a standard telephone line, pointing out information being presented on screen, and the audience can respond over their own telephones or over an online chat.

KaBOOM! holds two to three webinars each month that cover topics ranging from our community-build model to fundraising to innovative side projects. To participate, all you need are a phone and an Internet connection. The sessions generally last 45-60 minutes each. Check out the schedule of all upcoming webinars and archives.

Wow! What an amazing day!

My first WE Play! was a fantastic experience. Everyone participated with enthusiasm and vigor from the first buzzing of the kazoos to the very last.

The 60+ attendess shared so many great ideas about fundraising, dealing with city regulations, and we also heard some great success stories from people who have completed playspace projects.

Despite my less-than-perfect Powerpoint presentation, I think I did admirable for my section of the training, KaBOOM! Online Resources. Thanks for the laughs everyone!

Our first Meetup was also a success. We had alot of people show up and hang out, and I saw many great relationships and conversations form. If you are interested in future KaBOOM! Meetups (or want to start your own) please join the KaBOOM! group at http://communitybuilders.meetup.com/43/.

Okay enough commentary, here are some pictures from our post-training Meetup. Thanks for coming everyone!

The Chupacabra agrees.

This was my first experience with KaBoom! and it was great.  I enjoyed meeting all of the KaBoom! staff and also meeting people from across the nation that all have a common goal.

I can truly say that I met several people that I hope the stay in touch with.

The staff all did great , but I can not say how much I enjoyed Jasons presentation.  I feel that he adds a great deal to the entire day.  His humor and excitement had us all laughing and learning all at once.  I personally plan to use the web site to it's fullest after his presentation.  I really enjoyed how the staff were all so approachable.

I had a great time and I hope to become an active member of the KaBoom! community.

Great job Jason, Brooke, Amy, Tiffany and Leslie.

From all the way in Texas, Long live the Chupacabra and Long live KaBoom!

Hi Jason!  Thanks for posting some pictures so soon.  I enjoyed the workshop and the build and I'm ready to get to our build on Oct. 9th.   I have not been successful in finding the build site for Milwaukee.  (maybe pics are not posted yet!)  Anyway, I had a lot of fun and laughs. Your presentation was well done, and fun!!  Thanks.
