Ideas for play and playgrounds from around the globe....
posted by jblumstock  on Nov 27 2008
I've found that no matter how breathtaking the scenery, no matter how fabulous the food, what children really enjoy about any vacation are the new playgrounds they get to play in.  This was certainly the case during a recent trip to Budapest.  Happily for us, the city takes playgrounds ve....

fundraising fast

We did a fun run at the school - the only financial investment was t-shirts for the kids - $75.00 total. The kids got family and friends to donate per lap, and during school one day the kids ran laps and collected money. It raised $7100, more than any other fundraiser/grant that we did. The best part is that the kids did all the work, after all it is their playground. There was little to no organization required and no one had to give up a weekend or evening. We are planning one more to reach our final goal. One word of caution; some folks did not realize how short the laps were and ended up owing a lot more then they bargained for. In some cases we just asked them to donate what they thought was appropriate. Good luck!

Wow. That's an impressive return on your investment (t-shirts). Congratulations! Thanks for the tip on the short laps and your solution to those who were unpleasantly surprised. It's important to keep the good will of your community.

Hi bgracylny,

Do you have any more information on how you pulled things together or how long it took you to organize?  I am currently working with a community who is also trying to do some very FAST FUNDRAISING!  Do you have any other ideas or successes that you would want to share with the rest of the forum population or my community?

Thanks so much!  Happy fundraising! :)
