The New KaBOOM! Playspace Finder

Good morning kaboom.org!

I am very, very proud to announce that we have just launched our all-new, all-different, all-awesome KaBOOM! Playspace Finder!

We hinted at its impending launch a few weeks ago, and the moment is finally here. Head over to http://playspacefinder.kaboom.org now to see it in action!

Here are some of the new features you'll see on the new KaBOOM! Playspace Finder:

  • Maps, maps, and maps! The single most often requested feature is now here! Enter any city name or zip code and you'll see an interactive map of all the playspaces in that area!
  • More details! We've gone from 35 different types of details to 149 different amenities, equipment, and playspace types to make your entry as detailed as possible.
  • Better search! Not only can you browse playspaces on an interactive map, but you can also filter your searches by the type of playground and ratings.
  • More ratings! There are many different factors that go into a great (or awful) playspace. In addition to an overall rating, you can now rate playspaces on its condition, safety, the level of innovation, amenities, and maintenance.

Our biggest and best new feature has to be the widgets. Now you can share your favorite playspaces anywhere else on the web with a simple cut and paste of code. Look for the "Add to favorites" link while viewing a playspace, then go to the widgets page. With a simple cut and paste of code, you can put KaBOOM! Playspace Finder on your website or blog, share your favorite places to play, and help others find playspaces in their neighborhood.

Hi Jason,

Congrats on the new re-design of the playspace finder!  I like the interactive map and expanded rating system.  The one drawback I found is there is no way to list all the playspaces in our community.  When I went to the map for my area the little baloons didn't seem to list all the playspaces.  When I "zoomed" in, more appeared.  It would be great if we could still list all the playspaces, like the old playspace finder did.  Can you bring that part back?  Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad to hear your enjoying some of the new features.

If your looking for a way to see a list view of playspaces, there is a tab at the upper-right side of the map that will show you a list view.

Once you select the List View, you'll get a page that looks like this:

The list view will show all the playspaces that appear on the map. Here's a link to the list view of Henderson, NV.
