What does it all mean? Forum terms and icons
Posted: 20 Jun 08 11:48 AM Modified By jcooper on 7/3/2008 11:28:14 AM)

When you scan across the KaBOOM! Forums, you will not only see a cornucopia of tips, insights, ideas, and inspirations about play and playgrounds, but you also see some different icons around posts and username area. Throw in terminology like thread, post, and category, and the KaBOOM! Forums can be a confusing place. Well, confuse no longer! I've provided some definitions and explanations of the different icons below.

forum an internet forum is a place for asking questions, having discussions, and communicating with other people around specific topics. Example: the KaBOOM! Forums
category this refers to a sub-topic of the larger forum topic. Example: So You Want to Build a Playspace?
thread this is where the discussions take place. Someone starts a thread, gives it a name, then others reply. Those replies are displayed in chronological order. Example: Newspaper Article leads to donation
post posts are the actual messages that you can read and reply to. When a thread has a new post, it jumps to the top of the page. Example: what you are reading right now-- this is a post.
New threads This icon means there is a new post or a new thread in this category
No new threads This means that there is nothing new in this category.
