CVS pledges $1.1M for Boundless Playgrounds

WOONSOCKET – CVS All Kids Can, a program of the CVS Caremark Charitable Trust Inc. and CVS/pharmacy, today pledged $1.1 million to Boundless Playgrounds.

“We are thrilled to announce the next phase of our relationship with Boundless Playgrounds and to continue our goal of helping create environments where children of all abilities can play together,” said Eileen Howard Dunn, vice president corporate communications and community relations for CVS Caremark Corp., the parent of CVS/pharmacy. Last year, All Kids Can pledged $950,000 for the construction of eight Boundless playgrounds in Florida.

The new pledge includes three grants, totaling $750,000, for universal playgrounds Boundless plans to construct next year in Boston, Dallas and Los Angeles. Another $290,000 will go to Boundless playgrounds already in development in a dozen communities nationwide.

It also includes grants this summer to 60 communities that will receive $1,000 apiece through the CVS “School’s Out! Go Play!” scholarship program.

The mini-grants will help the communities acquire materials developed by Boundless, “supporting grassroots efforts by local community organizations to bring inclusive playgrounds to their neighborhoods,” Dunn said.

“This contribution by CVS Caremark will create an opportunity for thousands of children to play together in an inclusive environment,” said Amy Jaffe Barzach, executive director co-founder of the Connecticut-based nonprofit.

Boundless Playgrounds, a nonprofit founded in 1997, has created more than 100 accessible playgrounds in more than 20 states and the District of Columbia and is now developing dozens more. To learn more, visit www.boundlessplaygrounds.org.

The CVS Caremark Charitable Trust Inc. is a private foundation created by CVS Caremark Corp.(NYSE:CVS), partent of CVS/pharmacy, CVS.com, Caremark Pharmacy Servicea and MinuteClinic. Additional information is available at www.cvscaremark.com.
