We are so excited about the beautiful park in our new Hope Crossing neighborhood in northeast Oklahoma City! Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity is grateful to KaBOOM! for its help in developing a 2.2-acre park with playground and swings, baseball backstop, walking trails, workout stations, picnic tables, benches, and trees. Brown Park at Hope Crossing is an outstanding play, rest, and recreation place for what will be some 217 families when Hope Crossing is completely built out. It will be maintained by the Hope Crossing Community Association.
There is a good deal of energy and focus in Oklahoma City on beautification of public spaces, revitalization of the City's core, and rehabilitation and creation of new affordable housing. Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity is a large, very active Habitat for Humanity affilate - the 8th most productive in the nation - and there are a number of other active organizations focused on affordable housing in central Oklahoma. COHFH believes it is important to remember and address the need for an active, healthy, sustainable environment both in and around the home as we continue to address the need for affordable housing.

We have replaced 4 playgrounds over the past 4 years. Our largest is Safety Harbor City Park a "Boundless Playground" . We were the first in our county to achieve this certification. We have heard of several local cities not replacing playground equipment once it has neared the end of it's life. Instead they are tearing them down and making a passive park. Even with recent budget challenges we are keeping Play on the forefront of our minds.
