Here is a sample from what we did on May 30th.

You will have to fast forward the show a little to get to the story on "Play Day"

We are planning on having a National Day of Play Celebration on Sept 27.  Here are some of our ideas:

We are closing off a block on Main Street,  where our playground is, and setting up separate stations.  Some of them are:

The Ouchie Outpost(first aid station) <Boo-Boo Barn?>

A freestyle coloring table-(we supply the crayons and paper)

Make & Take craft tables  (get donated leftovers from neighbors)

Fire Truck

Hula-Hoops

We want to draw 4 hopscotch boards in the street with chalk, and draw 2 XL twister boards (we will make our own spinners) and supply sidewalk chalk for kids to draw whatever

Carnival Games-(everyone's a winner, regardless of whether they actually win or not) with prizes like pencils, bubbles, etc. (otriental trading company has lots of good stuff for prizes, you can get free catalogs from their website)  --Duck Pond, Soda Pop Ring Toss--the prize is the bottle of soda they  ring-if not, a small prize -glow bracelets make the perfect size rings!(and you can get packs of 6+ at the dollar store!)

Costume Contest, Playground Safety Poster contest

Face Painting

Gift Card Raffles-donated by local businesses--We are using this as a low-key fundraiser as well as a play day, games are real cheap (25 cents)  and raffle tickets maybe $0.50- $1.00 each

local 4H group will do the lunch counter-a bonus because they hold their own, and it's a fundraiser for them as well.  One less thing for the event coordinators to worry about! And they can get community service hour credits!

Hope some of this helps..good luck!
