Ok, so I had a thought today that it would be fun to start a thread where people can share their playground stories.  I think this would be something entertaining to read and hopefully people will keep adding to it and it'll just keep growing.  I'm with KaBOOM! and unfortunat....

Drop slides
Posted: 12 Jul 07 10:07 AM
Wanted to put a plug in for drop slides.  Several companies make them now.  When things went ultra conservative on safety, at first the slides were worthless.  Kids played on them by climbing up rather than going down.  At first we went to higher slides - 10 and 12'.  But that increases the fall height and surface needs.  We've put in several drop slides now and they are very fast and exciting without being over 8' high.  They have a long flat area after the rapid drop to make them safe.  Kids love them.  They're available now in a multitude of configuations and heights.  Even little ones for little kids.  I wouldn't use any other style of slide now when we do playgrounds- they're that much more fun.

This sounds like what we are getting from Landscape Structures, which is a slide that is 72 inches off the ground but it is their steepest slide, so that it has a fast drop and a long end... I'm glad to read that you like these slides so much!  That makes me more excited to see ours in August!

They're making these in little ones now as well 3 and 4 foot ones that can be used in tot playgrounds- much better than the old 3 and 4 foot slides which were more climber than slide.
