players benches

Would you have any plans for players benches for our new soccer fields?  Thanks to KABOOM, we have just completed the excavation and seeding of our new soccer fields, today!  We are so excited.  We have been unable to locate a simple plan for the benches.

 Thanks!

Julie

HI JULIE!  THAT IS EXCITING NEWS!  DID ANYONE EMAIL YOU ANY PLANS FOR BENCHES YET?   I BELIEVE THERE ARE SOME AVAILABLE.  I DON'T KNOW IF YOU REMEMBER, BUT I WORKED ON BENCHES AT THE NEW ORLEANS UPLAY AND THE DESIGN WAS REALLY SIMPLE!  GLAD TO HEAR YOUR PROJECT IS MOVING ALONG.

I am not sure if you wanted to build the benches from wood or purchase a manufactured bench.  If you are looking for the latter PW Athletics manufacturers an aluminum bench (with or without backs and moveable or permanent) (www.pwathletics.com).  I have purchased them for a football field project and they were fantastic!

If you would like to build benches out of wood there is a fairly simple plan you can use, one that we use on our outdoor classroom benches. Take a look in the Play Enhancement section of the KaBOOM! website and see if you can find the outdoor classroom instructions in there and base your design off of those: http://www.kaboom.org/DoItYourselfResources/SideProjects/BuildanOutdoorClassroom/tabid/231/Default.aspx

Basically you have two 2x6s at whatever length you want the bench. Each leg is made of one 4x4 at whatever length you would like to see the height of the benches plus the 18 inches you have below ground. You then use two 2x4s to 8 inches as supports that attach the 4x4 to the 2x6s.

Hi Julie,

I found these plans on line. These are a little bit fancier than the stage benches on our web site.

Good luck,
