More About Me
The Fairfield skate park committee organized in 2002, after years of people talking about an interest in building a skate park for the youth who had outgrown the playground equipment. This rural town in eastern Washington has less than 600 people, and it doesn't open its pocketbook for projects readily. The Town council was not interested in spending money or time to develop a skate park in town. So, interested community members, youth and adults, organized themselves to start raising money for the project. The committee organized into a non-profit entity and held ongoing fund raising events and wrote grants to obtain funding. Also, the committee researched and selected an equipment representative to help design the skate park. Now, 5 years later after all the funding has been raised, the Town council is involved to make it happen. The funding is complete and the we are starting the construction phase of the project;soon we will celebrate our Build Day and Grand Opening!
