(CBS) Kids today are lucky. Playgrounds have evolved from the jerky seesaws and galvanized jungle gyms many adults grew up on. They are light years away from the very first playgrounds in this country, which were put up in the late 1800s.
"Playgrounds aren't just toys," Darrell Hammond, founder of Kaboom, a nonprofit organization that builds playgrounds, told CBS News correspondent Joie Chen. "They're where imaginations soar, and they're where dreams become reality."
