Despite unseasonably warm and sunny weather, no children played on the section of Glenville School's playground reserved for the youngest grades last week.

In fact, had it not been for some delays at the Department of Parks and Recreation caused by recent storms, at least three of the 20-year-old play structures would not have been there at all.

Kudos to the Department of Recreation for recognizing the importance of not only a great place to play, but a SAFE place to play. I’m relieved that rather than removing the playground altogether, the Glenville PTA, Glenville Childcare and the Board of Education are working together to install new playground equipment. When different community partners come together to achieve a common goal, so much more is accomplished. I’m interested in hearing from people in the Glenville, Connecticut area – keep us posted on your progress!
