The head of a London children's charity was today calling on a new independent commission set up to tackle child poverty in the capital to make play for deprived youngsters a priority.

Dr Ute Navidi, director of London Play, is urging the London Child Poverty Commission launched yesterday to ensure that all children in the capital - regardless of where they live - have access to playgrounds or open spaces.
