posted by srich  on Jul 23 2008
My name is Shawn Rich.  I am interested in any builds in the New Orleans area in the coming months.  I will be organizing an outreach event of 400-600 volunteers on Nov. 8-9 and would be able to commit 50 of them to one of these projects.  Please e-mail me at srich@vcfk.com.....

The company I work for has asked me to start researching Kaboom for our volunteer program and I'm overwhelmed and confused by all the information on the website. I don't even know if this is something that would work well for our program but I need to present some of the basics to uppe....

This is from today's news (New York Times) regarding the black rubber mat surfacing.  Tip to anyone currently in a build...choose a lighter colored mat surface and consider installing some overhead canopies/shading otherwise, this too, could become a problem in your playspace in t....

wish list or volunteer need list
Posted: 07 May 08 12:16 PM
I am looking for a list of all of the things that need to be done or gotten (besides money) so that I can pass it out at a community event and people can agree to take on one small thing.  Has anyone created a list like this that they are willing to share?

Hi Mara!

Our Roadmap and Toolkit can provide you lots of the items for that list. Don't forget to check the new "Community Involvement" section of the Toolkit for lots of ideas of community resources to tap for various needed build items.

Mara,

As you are looking through the TOOLKIT and ROADMAP on the KaBOOM! website, it's a great idea to start breaking down the list of needs/wants/have-to-gets into committees (ie: food, registration/recruitment, construction, youth activities, etc).  It's a great way to get people on board and to be sure that there aren't any overlaps in what people are asking for.  Having one point person, or chair, for each committee is great because each person that is reponsible for an item can contact their 'chair' to give them updates.  All of the chairs can then give you an update for the entire committee.  Using committees to get what you need for your build is a great way to get more people involved and intergrate the most assets possible.

Good Luck!
