The company I work for has asked me to start researching Kaboom for our volunteer program and I'm overwhelmed and confused by all the information on the website. I don't even know if this is something that would work well for our program but I need to present some of the basics to upper management.
1. How much time should be spent planning a build? Several months? A year?
2. How do you find a spot to put a playspace? Do you need city approval? This is something where the company would like to be the sole contributor instead of involving other companies or communities.
3. If we are the sole contributor, do we have to purchase the playscape ourselves? And then are we responsible for the maintenance after the structure is complete? Or is that the owner of the property/land?
4. How much is a typical budget for the whole sha-bang?
5. Would we also be responsible to purchase garbage cans, benches, and/or lights if those are needed in the area?
Any advice or insight would be much appreciate. Thanks!
Hi! These are great questions about funding a playspace. You should contact Bridget Hankin (bhankin@kaboom.org). She'll listen to your situation and answer your questions. I can answer a few questions very generally.
I'm sorry you found the web site confusing. I hope this helps.

Hello again!
Bridget Hankin, our Development Director, forwarded me your forum post. I work in our Corporate Development Department and I'd be happy to go over your questions in more detail. We connect over 200 funding organizations to nonprofits and schools in need of a playground each year. Check out some of our most recent partners at Meet Our Partners.
If you'd like to talk about how your company can get involved, please email me at tcarney@kaboom.org or give me a call at 202-464-6071. I look forward to hearing from you!
