Nonprofit group recognizes city's innovations

Improvements and new equipment at its 26 parks, along with embracing such sports as skateboarding, paintball and BMX racing, helped Palm Bay earn honors as a 2008 Playful City USA community.

The designation -- from KaBOOM!, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing play back into children's lives, and qubo, a television and online service for children -- culminated an extensive application process. [More]
